Fears and Feathers and Finality...a dress and daring update )

All that I have left now is:
-engagement pictures/meeting with the photographer and getting to know her
-take dress to seamstress
-putting together the centerpieces/takeaways (potted plants for the environmental theme)

To delegate:
-someone to shop for and dress the ring bearers
-someone to decorate the reception room
-someone to set up the ipod and do minor MC-ing
-someone to drive us seperately to the venue and then to the after party
-someone to take Amy dress shopping and for alterations
....and i think that's it. With family tableclothes and china to eat off of and a BFF making the organic cake. Wow. It's come together!

Hey guys! Here is a wedding update! The wedding is in 5 months and I got lost in the shuffle of moving and finals but invitations should get sent out a week from today. Here is an update in pictures:

Oh my goodness! you guys....I've been so busy! I havent read livejournal in over a week and certainly haven't posted. Amy and I adopted a dog and called him Paco.

Our new place is fantabulous (see pics back a few entries) and I've only fretted over my weight for two hours in the span of two weeks! The city does good things for me! I've produced 5-8 art pieces in the last week alone! I walk the dog every day for a while and now, exercise is about being in the community, meeting the kids on the street, getting the puppy out...all that good stuff. Besides walks, Pasco likes belly rubs:

School wise, I took my LAST EXAM OF MY COLLEGE CAREER(!!!!) and now that we've moved, I start my internship on Tuesday and graduate (for sure!) on july22! On monday, Amy starts her job teaching at a local Headstart Preschool program and so thats really exciting for her too. I have a full time job waiting me at the childrens hospital post graduation so its nice to have that settled.

Wedding planning is still in full swing and the pressure is on because we have less than 5 months now! How did that happen?! We finally got my ring and as far as I'm concerned I'm happy as a clam:

We have no dresses...nothing but the site and save-the-dates sent out. I know it'll all come together though so Im not worried. I'm really excited about the site, the gazebo and clubhouse are just steps away and its a free venue bc my parents live in that community.
Here is our site:

Top Questions A&J actually got asked upon getting engaged:

1. Q: Who's the groom and who's the bride?
A: We both are

2. Q: Why are you doing this?
A: Why does anyone get married? To celebrate their love with friends and family and to help solidfy the commitment to each other. This is an amazing and optomistic event in a pessimistic world.

3. Q: Are you both wearing dresses?
A: Yup. Real wedding dresses. No fannel, I promise

4. Q: But it's not legal in your state, why not go to MA or Canada?
A: Because our hearts are in Cincinnati and and Jessie is afraid of moose.

5. Q: You're gay??!?
A: um. Yep. appears that way

6. Q: Will your parents and family be there?
A: Yes. Amy and I are blessed to have very suportive parents and extended families and friends.

7. Q: Will children be there?
A: No. We scary small children. They will not be present. KIDDING!! One of Amy's cousins and one newphew are in the wedding party. Also, Jessie's cousin Dylan is going to be a ringbearer. [Dylan to Jessie: Smessie...we you get married can I be your ring boy?] And the cute lil baby in the orange hat in a different post on this journal will also be there as will Karen's baby and some other kids too.

8. Q: Did you know that you don't get the thousands of rights and priveldges that straight people get by getting married?
A: Yep. We are painfuly aware of this. Luckily there are legal measures and meaniful measures we can take to make up for some of this. Jessie's work offers domestic partner benefits to couples cohabitating for 1 year or long and by May we will be close enough to that to qualify. Legally, Jessie is changing her last name to Amy's (which makes for Jessica Joseph and is ultracool and alliterative). Also legally, we can be each other's next of kin, emergency contact, and beneificery on each other's will...though right now we would only inherit a LOT of debt. Weeeeee!

9. Q: What's yourt story? How did you meet?
A: We met at a college club called "Feminist for Action" (lol) and we're been aquaintences and then friends for over five years. Since Jessie had a girlfriend off and on for most of college and went home for most summers to work and save money, the timing was never quite right. Then Jess was single and had a great roommate named Renate from Germany (aka the German). The German saw the potential that Jess and Amy had as a couple and helped give Jess that extra lil push over the friendship line. After a couple of false starts, Jess and Amy officially became a couple in March 06. In August '06, Jess proposed to Amy and Amy said yes....the rest is history.

10. Q: Ohhhh Jess proposed?! I didn't knnoowww that. Does that make her "the man" in the relationship?
A: Hahahhahahahhahhahahahahaha. Yes Jess proposed and no this does not make her the man. This makes her the one that could afford a ring. There is no man in the relationship seeing as how we're lesbians.

11. Q: How does the sex work? (Dani asked this one...)
A: Quite well thanks.

12. Q: Do you want kids? How would you aquire them?
A: Well, little Susie...when a woman and a woman are truly in love and married as virgins they....
......HAHAHA JK.

Um we do want kids and plan to adopt or something in the future but for right now our cat Pedro is enough child for us.

13. Q: 13 is an unlucky number. Why is there a number 13 on this list?
A: There is no number 13 on this list.

14. Q: What is your wedding color(s)?
A: Red and a lil bit of pink to tie in Amy's favorite flower which is a stargazer lily.

15. Q: The CAT is going to be in the wedding?! How?!
A: Yep. Pedro will be slightly sedated (via something from the vet) and wear a red rinestone color. Our junior groomsman, Skylear, will be carrying Pedro down the isle.
